#2| EO-Jongeren dag ’16

IMG_9544This years theme was This Is Love. No matter if you’re down, feeling lonely or worthless. There is always someone who loves you more than your sins, fears or pain. His name is I Am, the alpha and omega; Our almighty God. He has great things prepared for you, you are never worthless.

This years EOJD was great, I honestly wanted to go because I wanted it to be a new tradition by going every year, though I found myself wanting to go for For King & Country. Besides For King & Country, the Beam-worship band was really good as well, I had a good time. Trinity came with its Spanish lyrics, Planetshakers well, made us shake away our shame to dance like complete fools and  LZ7 ended the night with a bang.

This year I went by train en met up with my step dad and little brother at the train station in Arnhem (it was freakishly hot, I wore black pants and brought a jacket!..), as we headed to the buses to go to EOJD we got these cute bracelets. We didn’t do much this year, I bought this amazing t-shirt with “Enjoy Jesus Christ thou shalt never thirst” on it , got a free bag and signed up to win a trip to somewhere in Africa to volunteer for summer 2017! We also got cotton candy and because I at too much sugary snacks that day, I fell a sleep as soon as my head touched my soft pillow.

To be really honest, I thought last year was more fun but that’s because It was my first time. I was just glad that this year I got to enjoy how many teens were exited to praise the lord, yelling in the over-full train of Christians, that was literally full of Christians I am not exaggerating. I didn’t have the courage to talk to any of them, I really wish I did, maybe next year though. I also hope that some of you went as well and had a really good time, that hopefully you walked out of that stadium with a changed heart!

EO-Jongerendag ’15

I got a lot of catching up to do on posting some post but first things first, EO-Jongerendag! In a full stadium  with Christians my age, I never been more happy and praised to lord as I did that day with lots of people surrounding me.

There were lots of things to do outside, around the stadium; play games, climb, sing on stage, talk and pray, buy CD’s etc. And then at 13:30, when we finally found our seats it was show time!

EO-Jongerendag was amazing! It started out with counting down, people were dancing on the different stages and someone was rapping  a song. While dancing and rapping,
Eric Samuel Tim; Artists, author and orator was painting something beautiful on a canvas.

Royal Tailor was great for their first time in Holland, not much people knew who they were but what counts is that we jumped and danced, celebrating Gods love. Draw The Parade, Switchfoot and Hillsong Young and Free were also there. I did not know Draw the parade and it was the first time I heard of them, they were kind of cool (their lead singer is actually cute). Their music gave me a circus feeling as if life was a huge event, were you follow people to the destination were Jesus will be waiting for you and while your own your way you get to celebrate and be crazy.  But when you finally arrive that’s when the party will starting for real! Switchfoot sure knows what rock music is, I didn’t like the first songs but when Jon Foreman went of stage, he sang some beautiful songs that made me sit quiet and listen and move to the rhythm.

And then there was a break and there wasn’t much I could do from where we were, and my mom didn’t want to lose my so my little brother and I got our free Beam sweater and later I decided to get Royal Tailor’s signature! And I got it muhaha (excuse my weirdness) I only got three but that’s okay I’m happy though, isn’t Tauren cute? Okay back to the subject.

Hillsong Young & Free ended the day with a bang! I was so happy to see them and I had this big fat smile after the show because of them. Their worship songs really hit me and there was one in specific I didn’t know but loved so much; End of Days. the lyrics “I will sing until my voice won’t let me” made cry tears of happiness, I may be a rookie singer but I sure won’t stop when I’m signing for our God. Between the performances of Switchfoot and Hillsong Young & Free, it was Eric Samuels Timm’s turn to speak, he was talking about an umbrella. That God may be out umbrella in every situation. Did I also mention the Beam-worship band!? My mom seriously was happy to hear some familiar songs  and they were definitely great!

I enjoyed every bit of E0-Jongerendag , I could write every detail but I guess you could also see it for yourself! I left some details out because it was literally  to much, If some of you were there I hope you had fun and if you were not, hopefully you’ll be there next year and If not you could always watch it online! unfortunately I couldn’t find the second half of the show were Switchfoot, Eric Samuel Timm, Beam-worship band and Hillsong Young & Free were on stage only parts of them. I’m so sorry I wish you guys could see it to, but as soon as I find it I will add it to this post.

What To Pack For EO-Jongerendag ?

EO-Jongerendag is a christian event in The Netherlands, of course everyone is welcome not just Christians though. EO-Jongerendag takes place in Arnhem, once a year around summer we get to see christian bands, play funny games, worship, meet new people and have fun, and not to forget praise the one this big event is all for. Our God.

Let’s see, this isn’t just an event. It is going to be spectacular and not like anything you’ve ever seen.. so what are we going to bring?

  1. Bring all the energy you have! I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun with all that jumping and screaming, haha.
  2. Hope, bring hope it’s a good thing. Hope that after the show you’ll go home with a changing heart full of faith and love.
  3. Your bible, I don’t thing you should just bring it because of a Christian event. Your bible is a very important weapon to defied the evil.
  4.  A camera to capture every beautiful moment. (A smartphone is also an option)
  5. Comfy clothes, like sneakers instead of sandals and a loose shirt in case you get sweaty.
  6. A backpack or a simple shopper bag to put all your stuff in it.
  7. Food, I bet the food there is kind of expensive so it is always important to bring some snacks with you, and don’t forget your water.
  8. A notebook, maybe it’s just me but I always bring my notebook with me no matter where I go. It’ll be useful to write down the phone numbers of the people you met and or signatures from your favorite band. (:
  9. Your knowledge of every song so you can sing along haha, so study the bands before you go!
  10. Company, bring a friend or a family member because this event will touch hearts, I’m pretty sure!

I am so exited to go, this will be my first time (finally)  and I couldn’t be happier.  God bless you all and I hope some of you are also coming to this awesome event.
